UV-Cured Pipe Lining

UV-cured liners use light instead of heat or ambient curing, which means a faster, more controlled cure and less time with the line out of service.

Why cure with UV light

Conventional cured-in-place liners rely on hot water, steam or ambient temperature to harden the resin, and the cure can take hours. UV-cured liners use a resin that hardens when exposed to ultraviolet light from a train of lamps pulled through the installed liner. The cure is fast, consistent along the full length, and monitored as it happens.

For a commercial building that means the affected line is back in service sooner, the cure is not sensitive to ground temperature, and there is no hot water or steam to manage inside an occupied building. UV liners are also strong for their thickness, which helps preserve flow capacity in smaller-diameter pipe.

Where UV lining fits best

  • Occupied buildings where downtime on a drain or stack has to be measured in hours.
  • Vertical stacks and roof drains in multi-story buildings.
  • Smaller-diameter drains and laterals where wall thickness matters.
  • Projects that need a documented, verifiable cure for engineering sign-off.

How Progressive does it

After inspection and cleaning, the light-curing liner is installed through existing access, inflated against the host pipe and cured by a UV lamp train at a controlled speed. We verify the cure and record the finished pipe on camera. Progressive uses professional UV lining systems from established trenchless equipment manufacturers and cures to their specification.

Frequently asked questions

Is UV lining stronger than conventional CIPP?

Fibreglass-reinforced UV liners are typically stronger per millimetre of thickness than felt liners, which is one reason they are popular in smaller pipes where diameter is precious.

How long is the line out of service?

Often only a few hours for installation and cure, compared with a longer window for heat- or ambient-cured liners. We confirm the schedule during the site survey.

Can UV lining be used on vertical pipes?

Yes. It is one of the preferred methods for stacks and roof drains because the cure is fast and does not depend on holding hot water in a vertical pipe.

I called Progressive because of storm/tree damage, which took out both my power and caused my water main to burst. Progressive could do both. From my initial call to the arrival of the electrician and plumber, I couldn’t have been more pleased. … I would use them again and highly recommend them for your ‘mechanical’ needs.

We really appreciate the extra time, phone calls to the supplier, and careful reading of the instructions to do the job right. Gilbert expressed his philosophy as ‘doing the job the way he would want it done in his own home.’ Once again, we are most pleased with the professional and courteous service your company provides.

Day or night, call Progressive.
