Aging, undersized or obsolete panels are where commercial electrical failures start. Progressive replaces indoor and outdoor panels, distribution equipment and services, planned around your hours of operation.
Why commercial panels get replaced
- Capacity. New HVAC equipment, kitchen equipment, EV chargers or a tenant fit-out needs more than the existing service can supply.
- Age and obsolescence. Breakers no longer manufactured, corroded bus bars, and outdoor panels weathered past the point of safe operation.
- Findings. Hot spots found in infrared imaging, tripping breakers, scorched terminations or insurer and inspector requirements.
- Reconfiguration. Splitting a service for new tenants, adding sub-panels, or moving equipment during a renovation.
Indoor and outdoor
Many Triangle commercial buildings have their main panels or meter centers outdoors, exposed to heat, humidity and storms. We replace outdoor panels and meter bases with weather-rated equipment, and indoor panels, sub-panels and distribution boards inside electrical rooms, with the utility disconnect and reconnect coordinated so downtime is measured in hours.
How we plan the outage
- Survey the existing equipment, loads and utility service.
- Design the replacement with room for the loads you are planning.
- Permit, order equipment, and schedule the utility.
- Replace during the window that costs you the least: nights, weekends or between shifts, with temporary power where operations cannot pause.
- Inspect, label every circuit, and document the panel schedule.
Frequently asked questions
How long will the power be off?
Typically a few hours for a panel swap once the equipment is on site. We schedule it outside your operating hours and can provide temporary power for critical loads.
Can you upgrade the service at the same time?
Yes. Service upgrades are often done with the panel replacement so the utility only visits once.
Do you replace panels found deficient by an insurer or inspector?
Yes. We regularly correct findings from infrared surveys, insurance inspections and county inspections, and provide the documentation afterwards.

I called Progressive because of storm/tree damage, which took out both my power and caused my water main to burst. Progressive could do both. From my initial call to the arrival of the electrician and plumber, I couldn’t have been more pleased. … I would use them again and highly recommend them for your ‘mechanical’ needs.

Everything was taken care of today. They were just amazing. They got everything done real quick, no mess, real polite. They were just awesome. … The best news we’ve had since we’ve moved into this house.

We really appreciate the extra time, phone calls to the supplier, and careful reading of the instructions to do the job right. Gilbert expressed his philosophy as ‘doing the job the way he would want it done in his own home.’ Once again, we are most pleased with the professional and courteous service your company provides.
