Charging port and connector
GM's Ultium vehicles (Equinox EV, Blazer EV, Silverado EV, Sierra EV, Lyriq, Escalade IQ) and the Bolt use J1772 on earlier model years and NACS on newer ones, with adapters available.
How fast it charges at home
Most GM EVs charge at up to 48 amps (11.5 kW) on Level 2; the Silverado EV and some trims accept up to 80 amps (19.2 kW) with a compatible charger.
Manufacturer and universal chargers
GM Energy's PowerShift Charger is an 80-amp hardwired unit and, with the vehicle-to-home bundle, can power the house from a Silverado EV or other supported truck. Any standard Level 2 charger also works.
Installation notes
Vehicle-to-home needs a transfer switch and the home hub, which is generator-style work; Progressive handles the whole system under one permit.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need the Chevrolet, GMC & Cadillac-branded charger?
No. The manufacturer unit works well and is a good choice if you already have it; a universal hardwired charger performs the same and often costs less.
Will my panel handle it?
Usually a 200-amp panel will; many 100-amp panels will not without load management or an upgrade. The load calculation in our assessment answers it, and we quote both options.
